Just in time for the Summer holidays there’s a whole new reason to don the retro and get your skates on as a new pop up comes to town.
Adapting to the latest craze of 2020, LR Skate (the baby sister store of Little Rookies Sport in Brisbane) has opened the coolest store in Surfers Paradise and for the first time on the Gold Coast are offering Roller Skate and in line hire to locals and tourists.
Thanks to the 2020 trend of viral roller skating videos on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, a new crop of bright and catchy roller skate brands, and the itch to get outside in the midst of the pandemic, an international spike to get your skates on has taken the world of roller-skating to new heights.
Despite only having their doors open for less than one month, LR Skate are struggling to keep up with the demand of the roller-skates plus other signature products like skateboards, bikes and scooters. They have waited until now to be ready to offer their roller skate and inline skate hiring option to help out those who might want to ‘try before they buy’ or just have some holiday fun.
Owner Jemanda explain that she watched the success of outdoor skating in the US and just new with spring around the corner, Australia was next to follow.
“I was so excited to create our dedicated Skate shop showcasing some of the leading Retro Skates brands here to the Gold Coast. Skating is such a fun and great way to exercise, and we thought, what better place to skate than along the Gold Coast Esplanade soaking up the sun, beach vibes and enjoying a skate with family and friends” says Jemanda
No one can deny the beautiful nostalgia that comes with Roller-skating. Huge in the 70s and 80s and for a little while in the ’90s, the revival might be part of our way to cope with Covid_19 and everything that’s been going on during that crazy year.
